PAPE (Richard, MM) Boldness Be My Friend. Foreword by Marshal of the RAF Lord Tedder. 3rd Imp., 309pp., 20 photos., 4 maps. VG in chipped dw. Elek. 1953  #57946
[HLMainPic] Pape, RAFVR, was a bomb aimer in 15 Sqdrn., wounded but survived when his badly damaged Stirling bomber crashed near the Dutch-German border in Sept. 1941. In several camps, eventually escaped, & during his captivity contrived to send coded messages back to England. VG in chipped dw, signed "Richard Pape" on half title. Annotated in pencil by a previous owner, dubious of the veracity of the contents. It remains, however, that Pape endured the experiences described in the book & survived to receive the Military Medal for his exploits. See illustration on our website.   £35
