Interesting & detailed diary account of author's service in the ranks, from leaving training camp at Morpeth, 16th Oct. 1917, journey to France, the 'bullring' at Rouen, joining 1st KSLI on 28th Oct., further training then active service in the line until wounded in March retreat & PoW thereafter. The portrait photo. frontis. was taken at Witten, Westphalia, in Sept. 1918 & is inscribed in ink "Very sincerely yours J. Alec Hill / 9th February 1931." Orig. mustard cloth, blocked in red, VG & rare. See illustration on our website.
