HARRIS (Simon) History of the 43rd & 52nd (Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire) Light Infantry in the Great War 1914-1918. Volume II: The 52nd Light Infantry in France & Belgium. 1st Ed., xxv+690pp., col. frontis. (52nd at Nonne Boschen on Nov. 1914), approx. 120 photos., approx. 70 maps. VG in dw. Published by the author. 2012  #63110
[HLMainPic] An exemplar of a modern regimental history as it is so deeply researched & atmospheric in tone that it compares well with any contemporary history written by participants. The author's great-uncle, Capt. Ralph Kite MC, was mortally wounded in 1916 with the battalion & his large archive of letters & documents was therefore available to the writer. He also utilised many other privately & publicly held diaries, photographs & other documents to produce this fine belated record of the 52nd on the Western Front throughout the war. (Note: Vol. I of the regimental history originally conceived, being that of the 43rd in Mesopotamia &c., was the only volume published at the time. This is in every way a most worthy successor.) VG in dw. See illustrations on our website.   £75
