VRING (Georg Von Der) Private Suhren: The Story of A German Rifleman. Translated by Fred Hall. 1st USA Ed., vi+327pp. VG in split dw. NY: Harpers. 1928  #69237
[HLMainPic] Impressions of the war on an 'ordinary' German soldier, the cover line being 'Behind the lines with a German rifleman.' Published first in Zurich in 1927 then (as here) in America in 1928 & in England by Methuen in 1929. The author (1889-1968) served as an infantry officer on both Eastern & Western Fronts, & was several times wounded, so he was supremely qualified to write this book, one of the earliest German novels on the war. He was a noted poet who aligned himself with the Nazis but remained famed in Germany post-war. Orig. red cloth, VG in split/worn but rare dw. See illustrations on our website.   £145
