A Short History of the 1st King's Dragoon Guards from the Regimental Records, Army Despatches & Othe Papers Connected with The History of the Regiment from its Formation in 1685 to 1929. 1st Ed., orig. dec. card wraps., 66pp., portrait frontis. Aldershot: G&P. 1931  #64214
[HLMainPic] The 1st KDG did not publish a WW1 history so this work has value for its concise but informative account of the regiment's services in France & Flanders with the Lucknow Cavalry Brigade 1914-17, with much on 1915. The regiment returned to Meerut at the end of 1917 & participated in the 3rd Afghan War 1919. Appendices include a statement of "Dates & Places in Which The Regiment was Billeted, Camped, Bivouacked, or In Trenches, From November 12th, 1914, up to October 26th, 1917" also a Great War Roll of Hon. (listing those killed & wounded), WW1 awards roll, plus similar listings for Afghan War 1919. Little chipped, VG ex-IWM with minor stamps inc. 'Withdrawn' stamp inside rear cover. Uncommon. See illustration on our website.   £45

Individually numbered "Serial No. 301" but total no. produced is unknown to us. Orig. three-qtr. calf, green cloth, claret sp labels, gilt, the leather a little rubbed, stained & worn as always but overall VG, good copy & complete, with contemp. ink ownership inscrip. of "J.C.R. Gannon Major AMS Personal to C in C." (Note: Gannon appointed AMS [Personal] to Lord Rawlinson of Trent, 21/11/1920. He served in the Waziristan Campaign & was Mentioned in Despatches). See illustration on our website.   £350
Operations in Waziristan 1919-1920. (Second Edition). Compiled by the General Staff, Army Headquarters, India. 2nd Ed., viii+194pp., 31 plates (many fldg.), 8 fldg. panoramas, 4 fldg. maps in text, 3 fldg. maps in end-pocket. Calcutta: Superintendent Government Printing. 1923  #66211
[HLMainPic] The second & very much scarcer edition of this official account, which "cancels the previous (1921) edition, copies of which should be destroyed." As background the work includes operations 1860-1920, with considerable detail on the little-known 1917 campaign, with valuable orders of battle &c. The edition here offered is presumably amended &/or corrected, as its supersedes the original edition. It should not be confused with the cheaper edition issued without most of the maps & plans. Modern blue cloth, gilt title to sp., complete with all maps & plans (one additional to the 1st Edition) including 3 in endpocket. See illustration on our website.   £250
