An old bookseller's catalogue note attached to front paste-down (describing this copy) states: "This book was owned by Lt.-Col. G. Osborn Smith, 1st Royal Irish Fusiliers, whose grandfather was a nephew of Worge. Notes & underlining on the family connections are made in the text. Worge fought at Culloden & on the Continent & was later sent to Senegal as Governor, where he ousted the French. There are accounts of Dettingen & Fontenoy... Bumped & worn corners. Spine worn at ends & hinges glued where split." This description still stands, with my addition that it is inscribed by Col. Osborn Smith to paste-down, the binding is original red cloth, blindstamped & gilt, generally VG, & rare. See illustrations on our website.
