                     A rare anonymous account of Western Front service with what seems to be a regular Scottish battalion. The author joined in March 1915, served as a company officer until wounded on 11th August. Describes life in the line & in billets around Ypres, then in hospital in France until Sept. when he seems to have been evacuated to England. With dedication it may be possible to identify the unit & author; they possessed a VC officer - herein called Murray - who was sent home in June 1915 suffering from nerves.
