Armine Frank Norris, son of Frank Hope Norris and Henrietta Margaret Norris, of Lambton Mills, Ontario, but residing in Toronto, was born in 1893 and was a student at the University of Toronto, where he belonged to the Officer Training Corps. He enlisted in Canada in March 1915 and sailed for europe soon after, joined his battalion in France in September and became a machine gunner. He was commissioned in the spring of 1917. His Military Cross, Gazetted in January 1919, was awarded for events shortly before his death in action on 28th September 1918 during the attack on Hayencourt, north-west of Cambrai. When he was killed he belonged to the 1st Battalion Canadian Machine Gun Corps: he was Killed in Action on 28th September 1918 and his grave lies in Sains-les-Marquion British Cemetery. He was twenty-five years old when he died. Consists entirely of his letters written between May 1915-September 1918, containing much of interest on his campaign experiences.
