Fine war memoirs of Ambrose Cull who held a pre-war commission in Australia's Citizen Forces but dropped in rank to join the 23rd Battalion AIF in the Middle East in 1915, served a few weeks in Gallipoli until wounded; then to France where he regained his commission in the same battalion & became an intrepid trench fighter who was several times commended for his gallantry only to be severely wounded at the Butte de Warlencourt & taken prisoner of war on 26th Feb. 1917. He was in camps including Bochum & Karsruhe until sent to Switzerland in Dec. 1917 & repatriated in March 1918. Orig. printed paper covd. boards with cloth backstrip with paper sp. label. VG & rare.
