The author was a sapper with the 1st Fd. Coy. Northumbrian RE, then an NCO with 419 Fd. Coy. (West Lancs.) RE & a Staff Sgt. at 2nd Corps HQ. Very scarce candid account of enlistment & life at Base Camps in England & France, active service 1917-18 & the Army of Occupation in Cologne. Some unusual experiences that don't often find their way into the memoirs include (apparently celibate) educational visits to the 'Red Lamp.' Orig. red cloth, blocked black, sp. sl. sunned & minor wear, but rare & interesting memoirs. See illustration on our website.
