GAULD (H. Drummond) The Truth from the Trenches. 1st Ed., [ix]+305pp. Stockwell. nd [1920]  #68048
[HLMainPic] Scottish infantry other rank's long & detailed personal account from "Arrival at the Railhead" with a draft to join his regt. (styled Berwickshires, evidently a bn. of the KOSB [probably 7th/8th Bn.]) during the Battle of the Somme, battles of Arras, Passchendaele & throughout the final campaign of 1918. Much on the routine aspects, behind-the-lines inspections, fatigues &c., as well as trench life & operations. This is the 1st Edition published 1920 by Arthur Stockwell; republished in 1930 by Hutchinson with the title "Scotland Yet!" Very hard to find in either edition & this the more desirable original. Orig. red cloth, gilt, somewhat sunned o/w VG. See illustrations on our website.   £145
