Detailed & well-illustrated souvenir of Colditz Castle, the infamous 'bad boys' PoW camp, containing a large number of contributions by ex-inmates, compiled after release by one of their number, a Canadian mining engineer captured at Dieppe & a committed escaper: the description to accompany his portrait, provided by Capt. Pemberton How, stated "Jerry [Wood] never let up in Germany & in a most extraordinary way mixed studying with escaping. Jerry was often to be seen disappearing into a tunnel with tools in one hand a German Grammar in the other. In this way he wasted no time... a great character... one of the most popular personalities of the camp." In the Acknowledgements the compiler explains that printing & binding was undertaken by No. 2 GHQ Press RASC of the P&SS, HQ, BAOR. Orig. blue & maroon cloth, gilt, little chipped, about VG with loosely inserted Amendment slip. See illustrations on our website.
