The 'Von Steuben,' formerly the luxury liner 'Kronprinz William' of the German Lloyd Steamship Line, was interned by the US Govt. in 1915 & duly transformed into an armed auxiliary cruiser & troopship & served in the Atlantic 1917-18 as a trooper, convoy escort & sub-hunter. Excellent illustrated account providing the background history of the vessel but most WW1 service, with Roll of Hon. & rolls of officers & crew. Orig. blue cloth, gilt to front, VG.
