Andrew William McGregor was the son of Mr. A. J. and Mrs. E. J. W. McGregor, of Amroth, Bloemfontein, South Africa. He was ed. at the Diocesan College, Rondebosch, the South African College at Cape Town, Rhodes University Colle at Grahamstown and Oriel College, Oxford. He was killed in action on 27th February 1916, serving with the 9th (Service) Battalion, Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). He was twenty-two, and is buried in Noeux-les-Mines Communal Cemetery. A lengthy memoir based largely on the subject's letters including training at Tain and from France from October 1915 until the day of his death, with good descriptions of trench life etc. He was killed by a shell just after coming out of the trenches, in a village just behind the lines. Grey paper covd. boards, latterly rebacked with brown morocco backstrip, gilt. VG thus & scarce
