This is a reprint, evidently organised for the OCA, of the exceptionally rare original edition of the history of the Recce Squadron of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards 1942-46, in training then in NW Europe from landing at Juno beach in July 1944, a month after D Day, then onwards through Normandy, France & the Low Countries to Germany. Casualties & awards are noted in text. A most engaging account with appealing sketches/plates by a member of the unit. This edition benefits from numerous photos. not included in the original edition, both contemporary & from OCA visits to the scene of the action in 1984 & 1986, & a new Foreword by the Squadron Commander, Major J.R. Crockett, which contains some interesting remarks on the composition of the Squadron. Orig. green dec. card wraps., title & regimental badge in silver gilt to front, VG & rare.
