Gunnery work on the Western Front as practised in 1915 with much on the Battle of Loos ("His description of the preliminary bombardment & the day of assault at Loos is masterly" - The Times). Orig. olive cloth, VG, nice copy with author inscrip. to F. Britten Austin (pressman & military commentator): "I am deeply flattered by the kind remarks made upon my work by a brother in arms of such distinguished literary reputation. C.J.C. Street" together with loosely inserted ms. letter (on M.I. 7B[1] War Office notepaper, dated 6 May 1918 to Austin from Francis Grierson, mainly concerning his review of the book. Interesting copy.
