An artist of the Vorticist circle & an acquaintance of Wyndham Lewis, Roberts served as a gunner in a 4.5 How. Battery RGA: rare privately printed memoirs & a few letters from France 1916-18, prefaced by an interesting explanation of how he came to join the Royal Artillery. Two plates reproduced (in black & white) of war paintings by the author in the Vorticist style; he also designed the striking front wrapper. Orig. orange dec. wraps., VG & very scarce.
