Described by the publisher as "Prelude to 'The Case of Sergeant Grischa'" recalling the hero of that work, Bertin's, call-up & his wartime romance with Lenore (who later becomes his wife). Orig. yellow cloth, little dusty in little rubbed & marked dw, from the library of Henry Williamson but not signed or otherwise marked by him except for using the back panel of the dw as notepaper to remind himself, apparently, of a coat available from a shop in Barnstaple High Street. See illustrations on our website.
