Advert leaf claims: "Next to being at the Great War is Reading this Faithful Record of it." The author raised funds for the Melbourne Hospital through sale of the book. Note: No. 4651 Pte. Walter Adcock enlisted Jan. 1916 in 23rd Bn. AIF, served in France Dec. 1916-May 1917 when invalided with trench fever then again from Dec. 1917-Sept. 1918 when wounded (GSW right shoulder).
