TRENCH MAPS:
Four conjoined sheets: 62dNW 1:20,000; 62dNE 1:20,000, both Ed. 3.b (Local); 62dSW 1:20,000 & 62sSE 1:20,000.
Four sheets joined together (as operationally used), approx. 160x104cm in all. Region of Amiens eastwards via Villers Bretonneux, Bellevue Mill Hamel, Marcelcave, &c., north to Heilly, Mealtue, Fricourt, &c., south to Hangard Wood, Demuin, &c., i.e. a large area of the southern region of the Somme and 1918 battles. The first two named sheets cporected to 2/7/1918 & 3/8/1918 respectively; the later two from the same period but dates not showing as pasted together with the sheets above. Extensive British & German trench systems ranging over all four sheets, several pencil markings relating to positions of a Field Arty. unit. reverse with pencil inscrip. Major Sherman 54 Brigade & 27th Division G-2: this is the 54th Brigade of the American 27th (New York National Guard) Division. Somewhat serviceworn & stained reverse, front clean.
