Frederick George Jackson's early career in Africa from 1884-1898 or thereabouts, at Lamu & onwards. Jackson travelled through east Africa in search of game & adventure, including walking through tropical Africa from Beira in Mozambique to Matadi in the Belgian Congo, via the Victoria Falls, Katanga district, the Lualaba River, lakes Tanganyika and Kivu, and the Congo River. He was a keen hunter after game including waterbuck, hartebeest, eland & oryx, he bagged an elephant and lion near Mt. Elgon, among other trophies. He was an able colonial administrator who became Lieutenant-Governor for East Africa Protectorate (1907-1911) & Governor & Commander-in-Chief, Uganda, 1911-1917.
