MCLELLAN (Samuel Wilson [FRCS]) Notes During the Early Stages of the War 1914. [Diary of S.W. McLellan, Lieut., RAMC). 1st Ed., [ii]+35pp. No imprint [Privately printed]. 1920  #67843
[HLMainPic] Small format (149x107mm) diary of Lt. McLellan from 28th August-27 October 1914 while serving with No. 9 General Hospital at Rouen. First entry contains a retrospective describing his acceptance as a MO at the War Office on 12th August, joining the Hospital, then mobilising at Chatham, a few days later, then active service in France. Also contains a short biographical note by his brother: its appears that he died from non-war causes shortly after being demobilised. Rare accounts of the somewhat chaotic early days of the General Hospital and its subsequent work. See illustrations on our website.   £145
