Raised in 1941 to meet the Japanese threat in north-east India, the regiment became (& remains) a part of the post-Independence regular Indian Army & performs a valuable security role in the north-eastern region. It has also participated in the Jammu & Kashmir ops. 1948, Indo-Pak wars of 1962 & 1971, &c. Excellent illustrated history plus Roll of Hon., awards, &c. (including WW2). VG in dw.
