[HLMainPic] Allan was born in India, son of a rich planter, was Ed. at Rugby & the Univ. of Edinburgh. He became a doctor & was practising in Hong-Kong pre-war, having previously spent several years at Christmas Island. Efforts to gain military employment failed until his help was enlisted to round up candidates for the Chinese Labour Corps, & he went to France with the contingent where after some time he transferred to an RAMC unit. Contains a few letters describing experiences with the CLC &c. After ther war he returned to the East & died in HK in 1926. Orig. blue cloth, gilt, sp. little rubbed, generally VG.
