SECRET (a decade after original publication downgraded to RESTRICTED). This volume in the 'Second World War 1939-45 - Army' series of official monographs on aspects of WW2 stands out from the rest of the series in that it was designated SECRET rather than RESTRICTED & instead of matching the other volumes (red cloth, titled in black, letterpress) it was produced as duplicated typescript in foolscap format. As a resource for future generations to learn from & improve on operational planning it used the example of Operation Husky (the assault & capture of Sicily), which although untypical of Second World War operations was selected because "all operations became increasingly 'Combined Operations' as the war progressed; and since there is at least a likelihood that this tendency will continue, this study is based upon a Combined Operation, & Amphibious Assault..." Orig. printed paper covd. boards with red cloth backstrip, titled in black, VG throughout. No. 194 of unstated print run (perhaps 200 copies). See illustrations on our website.
