The Court was established by Royal Warrants of 1918 & 1920 to adjudicate upon claims for compensation from companies, organisations & private individuals in respect of damage or loss occasioned by the war. A wide variety of cases: damage to property by troops billeted on householders; opportunity cost of occupation of land; lost business opportunities; costs of diverting shipping; internment &c Each volume contains full reports of representative judgements & a table of cases dealt with & their outcome (by no means all the claims were accepted). Complete run of reports printed "For Official Use" only in very small numbers (375 copies each printed of Nos. 1, 2 & 5; 250 copies printed of Nos. 3, 4, 6, 7 & 8). These copies were property of E.W. Arnott, an Assistant Secretary to the Court, five of the reports retaining forwarding letters to him from the Secretary. VG complete set & rare. See illustration on our website.
