Rare contemp. work. containing a geographical description of the country, observations on the defences of it, notes on the Portuguese Army & the language, manners & customs of the people; Travelling - including Inns & Accommodation on the Road, &c., followed by a Sketch of the recent campaigns in Portugal & chapters on the operations in 1809 (Talavera &c.) & 1810; then finally notes on principal routes, with distances between them (& between the principal towns in Portugal & Spain). Contemp. brown calf, little rubbed & worn, generally VG, two old tape repairs to the the fldg. map of the country, VG thus with armorial bookplate of one G.H. Carriden.
