The unit had a curious history: as 12th DLI served in France 1940 inc. rearguard actions near Arras &c., about 140 men escaping from Dunkirk; then affiliated to the Black Watch & served in Iceland, then landed in Normandy shortly after D Day where they saw much heavy fighting until broken up due to heavy casualties late in August 1944 & the personnel posted to other bns. Interesting, detailed & rare history, with Roll of Hon. + roll of addresses of survivors. Orig. green cloth, gilt, VG with small ink stamp of RHQ Grenadier Guards to ffep.
