Taking the "first phase" as the German offensive which began on 21st March 1918, Luckock examines this period & events leading up to the "second phase" i.e., the Allied offensive on 8th August & subsequent days. A lucid survey of the operations & the tactical mastery of the field achieved by British, Canadian & Australian forces. Note: Maj.-Gen. Russell Mortimer Luckock psc (1912) joined 4th Army GS in Feb. 1916 & at the time of the Battle of Amiens was GSO1 Operations. Workmanlike card binding with cloth backstrip, VG with bookplate of US Army War College Library, typed title labels to front & a few ink markings. It is evident that this British intelligence material was passed to the Americans & retained for study at the War College.
