Superbly detailed hand coloured map of Northern Europe including the North Sea, Baltic, Gulf of Bothnia & Gulf of Finland, the Scandinavian states, parts of Russia, Prussia, Holstein, Meklenburg, &c., scale approx. 30 miles to one inch, together with inset fine miles to the inch diagram of Cronstadt & St. Petersburg (eastern end of Gulf of Finland) & one inch to the mile diagram of Cronstadt island & harbour "With the Fortifications & Battery" & a further insert of North West Part of Russia in Europe which shows the Arctic & White Seas. Undated but c.1854/55 & no doubt published due to interest in the region because of the operations of the British & French fleets against the Russians at Cronstadt, Bomarsund. Staining & spotting to cloth covers & rear of map, face of map clean.
