Appointed in 1903, Townshend travelled widely in Asia Minor over a period of three years, commenting on inns, tents & food, various provinces, villages, festivals, the state & of the Army, commerce, the emergence of the Young Turks, railways & geography, &c., all interestingly described with a selection of interesting photos.
