Observations & experiences of a young infantry officer in Flanders. Hodder's 'The Soldier Books' series was one of the earliest attempts to record personal experiences of active service, but although it was competitively priced at 1/- in attractive pictorial wraps. the books in the series are remarkably elusive, perhaps because they were not overly durable & the spines cracked & chipped easily. Orig. pictorial boards, a comparatively nice copy with minor wear & scarce thus. It seems likely that the author used a pseudonym as noone of the name Hugo Morgan served in the infantry & attended Cambridge University, as the author indicates he had.
