Interpreter with the BEF from Aug. 1914 to the end, notably at Gough's 5th Army HQ &c. DCM, MM & bar, Croix de Guerre. Uncommon & entertaining narrative with Churchill preface. Later brown cloth (ex-Times book club) but VG thus with bookplate O.S. Cundy Cooper, with authorr inscription on tp: "For Mr Cundy Cooper. Paul Maze" plus a pen self-portrait sketch by the author to half title with adjacent inscip. "Here we are again 1942! & we meet! Paul Maze." The owner of this copy was Capt.
