TRENCH MAP: Ubersichskarte [overview map] fur die 18. Armee (St. Quentin). 1:50,000. Large German paper trench map, 74x99cm approx., showing the region from Villeret & Bellenglise south via St. Quentin to Urvillers, La Fere, &c. A most interesting area including the Hindenburg line, the St. Quentin Canal, &c., famously captured in September 1918. Shows detailed German trench systems & other features, corrected to 7th March 1918. The sheet is marked: "Darstellung der ausherhalb der feindlichen Beobachtung liegenden Raume" which translates as: "Representation of the areas outside of enemy observation" & also marked with a line "Aufstiegzone der Ballone" or "Balloon Rise Zone" i.e. this map shows the troops where they may move & operate out of enemy observation. Very interesting map. VG. See illustrations on our website.  #66101
