Lennox (1781-1860) when known as Earl of March served on Wellington's staff in the Peninsular War, during which time he joined the 52nd (Oxfordshire) Regt. as a volunteer & accompanied the regiment's advance storming party on the fortress of Ciudad Rodrigo. He formally joined the 52nd Foot in 1813 & commanded a company at the Battle of Orthes, 1814, where he was severely wounded; the musket-ball in his chest was never removed. During the Battle of Waterloo he was ADC to the Prince of Orange & following the latter's wounding, served as ADC to Wellington. Detailed memoirs of his life based on various correspondence & family sources. His military career is detailed in around 40pp., the rest of the book (apart from his early life & education) being devoted to his work as a landowner, &c.
