Catalogue No. 161 “One Hundred Great Books on The Great War from the Collection of David Pritchard” – February 2019

Our sadly departed friend and fellow collector, David Pritchard, who died of cancer in 2018 at an early age, was one of a handful of truly dedicated, serious collectors of very nice books in very good condition, concentrating largely on the Great War, 1914-1918. He is and will remain very much missed within the book collecting fraternity. Turner Donovan Military Books are privileged to be handling his collection. One Hundred Great Books on The Great War lists an initial selection. Within it I have endeavoured to represent the scope of David’s WW1 interests. As such, it includes works on the war on land, at sea and in the air, on Fronts as diverse as Africa, Russia, Gallipoli and of course the Western Front, with works representing the services of many nations. Other works from the collection will be offered in future dedicated catalogues, as well as within my main catalogues. Every book from the collection will have a loosely inserted slip in order to commemorate their provenance. We have decided to do this because David never identified the books as from his collection, not wishing to mark them in any way.
