Parry went to India aged about 19 & became "licensed by the Governor of Madras as a Free Merchant." He established an enormous trading business & was immensely rich at a young age. Various trials & tribulations followed, falling out with the HEIC, &c. A career of opportunities & pitfalls that could probably only have occurred during the rapid dominance of Britain's role as the world's greatest empire. Orig. blue cloth, titled in black. VG.
