Classic memoirs including service as a VAD & chronicling the loss of her fiance, Roland Leighton, brother Edward & other friends in the war. Orig. red cloth, titled in black, inscribed by author "Vera Brittain" in ink on ffep, which is a plus point: on the other hand the book has been recased, has a little edge damage to a few leaves & someone has pencilled over the decorations on the rear endpaper.
