RAC volunteer owner-driver in 1914, attached GHQ through the Retreat, Marne, & Aisne then to the staff of his brother, Sir Henry Rawlinson, GOC IV Corps from Antwerp to Ypres. Later invented the Toby Mortar & other services: the eponymous mortar was tested in action at the Battle of Aubers Ridge on 9th May 1915. Orig. blue cloth, gilt, somewhat worn ex-circ. lib., generally sound. See illustration on our website.
