Experiences of an Australian Draft from leaving home, the voyage, London life, the move to France (early in 1917, evidently) & front-line service with an infantry battalion. In the final lines of the book the author & his bn. charge 'over the top' at an unspecified location on the Bapaume Front. No doubt based on author's experiences: 4380 Pte. (later L/Cpl.) Charles Hampton Thorp served with 29th Infantry Bn., embarked at Sydney on 3rd Nov. 1916. Orig. plum cloth, blindstamped & titled in red, sp. rubbed, generally VG & scarce. See illustration on our website.
