[HLMainPic] Full text of Frederic Manning's highly praised classic account of his experiences in the ranks of the 7th KSLI, serving on the Western Front front during 1916. This edition contained what is called on the television 'strong language' & was issued to subscribers only in this edition of 520 numbered copies, of which this is no. 401. A year later published by Peter Davies in expurgated form as 'Her Privates We' by 'Private 19022.' Rare orig. edition, brown cloth, gilt, minor wear, VG, with orig. maroon silk ribbon page markers complete with original slipcase. The books VG, both volumes with ink ownership. inscrip. "Henry Williamson Shallaford 1930" to front blank, the slipcase is of lesser quality than the volumes it contained & is frequently absent but is present here. Apart from inscribing them with his name HW has not marked the text in any way, possibly due to the special nature & expensive price of this publication.
