Based on material assembled for the discontinued German military monographs series, enlarged with accounts of those present at the 1914 operations. "It is a valuable work for students & of particular interest to British readers. The operations of the German cavalry during the advance into Belgium & France, at the Marne & Aisne, & during the Race to the Sea are well recorded, & there are good maps & sketches." - Falls. This English edition translated by several US officers & Ed. by Jerome W. Howe, US Cavalry. Bound in stout black cloth for the Staff College, Camberley, gilt to sp. with Staff College Library bookplate & oval stamp (Cancelled) to tp, VG thus, the maps mounted on linen & bound-in at end (including one small one that was originally contained in an endpocket).
