Raised in 1849 as 5th Punjab Inf., became 58th Vaughan's Rifles (FF) 1903 & 5th FFRif. 1922: served under Sir Hope Grant in the Mutiny then many NWF campaigns: Ambeyla 1863; Jowaki 1877-78; Afghanistan 1878-80; Kurram FF 1881; Samana 1891; Tirah 1897. France with the Indian Corps 1914-15, Palestine, Afghanistan 1919 & Waziristan. Officers' service details.
