In about 1864 it was determined that "complete returns of the equipment of the army should be made by the officers of the Topographical & Statistical Depot, & illustrated by drawings of every article authorized to be supplied to the army, the work was divided into seven parts..." This is the fourth part: "compiled with the greatest regard to accuracy; but in a work comprising returns of such a vast number of articles, it is probable that some trifling errors may still exist." It was published without illustrations, although it was planned to issue the latter in a supplement. Contains all manner of stores & equipment. Orig. maroon cloth, blindstamped & gilt, sl. chipped o/w VG ex-RUSI. Just 5000 copies printed & thus a rare survival. See illustrations on our website.
