ROHAN (Jack) Rags: The Story of a Dog Who Went to War. 4th Ed., xi+242pp., 8 photos. VG in chipped dw. NY: Grosset & Dunlap. nd (c.1937)  #68121
[HLMainPic] The subject was a terrier found in France (by one Pte. James Donovan, a linesman in the Signal Corps) & adopted as the US 1st Division's mascot. Rags was not purely ceremonial: he carried messages at the Front & warned (by his behaviour) of incoming shell fire. He was wounded & gassed at the Meuse-Argonne alongside his master, now Sgt. Donovan. Incredibly, this is all true. Orig. green cloth, titled in paler green, VG in chipped dw. See illustrations on our website.   £45
