Among other observations (largely on the comparison of this work with the Naval & Seaborne Trade official histories) Falls states: "Mr Hurd tells his epic story with skill & power, though he sometimes strays from the regular course of his narrative..." Very scarce: orig. blue cloth, gilt, Vols. I & II spines dull (as usual); Vols. III, bright, little dusty, good set overall. See illustration on our website.
