[HLMainPic] Memoirs of Lieutenant Geoffrey Blemell Pollard, Royal Field Artillery (killed in action 24th October 1914 whilst acting as F.O.O. to his battery near La Bassée: commemorated in Pont-du-Hem Military Cemetery, La Gorgue) and Lieutenant Roger Thompson Pollard, 5th (Service) Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment (killed in action 13th October 1915 at Loos and commemorated on the Loos Memorial). Contains extracts from their letters. In a letter of condolence for "Geoff," Francis Grenfell V.C. wrote "I have lost my twin brother, from whom I was never separated until the day I last saw your son, so I can appreciate the great sorrow that has fallen on you and Mrs Pollard in the loss of a son who has done what we would all like to do – die for England."
