CONFIDENTIAL guide issued "primarily for reference by Personnel Selection Officers" which was evidently intended to assist them in placing men in the most appropriate roles: "This volume is intended to be a work of reference for PSOs and to supplement SP Book 2 with more specific information about the training and work of fighters in the Arm, and to present their work in the appropriate setting so that each job is related to the other jobs and each man can be considered in relation to his immediate group and the larger groups of his regimental family" which demonstrates the fine-tuning of infantry training and organisation which emanated form WW1 & was further refined in WW2. Contains much detail on organisation of Rifle Company, Mortar Section, Mortar Platoon, Carrier Platoon, Anti-Tank Platoon, &c. &c., with supporting illustrations & diagrams. Compiled by Personnel Selection Staff at the War Office & printed by Survey Training Centre, Royal Engineers (500 copies, March 1945). Covers a little marked, front with some light staining & one small corner torn away, generally VG, sound throughout & appears to be an unusual survival.
