Scarce compilation of accounts of the 1st & 2nd Battalions, including the experiences of the compiler, a subaltern in the 1st Bn. in 1914, who was wounded at Aubers Ridge on 8th May 1915. Much on theearly battles at Ypres &c., with numerous notes of the arrival & departure of officers, the work of various NCOs, roll of officer casualties (killed, wounded & sick), roll of awards (including MiDs), tables of casualties & drafts. Undoubtedly this material was available to Everard Wyrall when he was employed to write the 1914-18 regimental history (published 1931) but his style did not include much of the close detail recorded here. Orig. red paper wraps., somewhat creased & worn, stamp of regimental depot & inscribed "For use in Depot School."
