Very rare history of this railway laying company, formed in 1914, which arrived at Abbeville in Feb. 1915 & remained in France throughout the war, serving in the Ypres Salient & elsewhere. Narrative contains details of officers' movements &c., as well as historical account of the unit's activities, followed by a long narrative poem describing its experiences. The author - alongside his brother - both Platelayers (presumably with the GWR as they came from Bristol) - was one of the original members of the Coy. who enlisted in 1914. Includes detailed plans of depots at Abbeville, Rouen & La-Gorgue Estaires. Orig. red cloth, gilt to front, little wear to eps o/w VG.
